This means that the endangered Kyoto Protocol, agreed under the landmark 1992 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (FCCC), is secure, despite a dogged and irrational opposition from the United States, which accounts for 24 per cent of the world’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions."
